A 24 hour emergency shelter services for women suffering from persistent mental illness, abuse or chemical dependencies to remove these women from the streets and into a rehabilitative environment.
- Estimates indicate that between 7% to 13% of the homeless population in St. Louis are single women.
- Long term rehabilitation residency programs for women with persistent mental illness or recovering from chemical dependencies to provide the necessary skills for sustained independent living.
- Estimates indicate that 28% to 38% of the homeless women population suffer from persistent mental illness (disabilities) due to chemical imbalances, prior abuse, or neglect.

Shalom House Services:
- Provide the only 24 hour emergency shelter with rehabilitative services for women suffering from mental illness, abuse or chemical dependencies in the metro area - over 266 women annually.
- Provide a unique long term shelter & rehabilitation residency program for women suffering from mental illness, abuse or chemical dependencies, average 15 women annually.
- Provide onsite tailored case management, counseling and rehabilitative services including: medical and mental assessments, psychological treatment and therapy, occupational therapy, and coordination of medical health treatment and drug treatment.
- Provide on site basic life skills training in areas of independent living skills, social and behavioral skills, personnel disease management, community service, computer training and coordinate off site job skill retention training and GED training.
- Six month follow on monitoring and counseling to residency program graduates.
